MacCallums are winners at Maine State Feis
The MacCallum sisters, Sarah and Kathleen, have been picking up prizes in Irish dance this summer making parents Brad and Mary very proud - as are we all!
Competing at the Novice level at “The Maine State Feis” on July 28th in Gorham Maine, Sarah finished third in “St. Patrick’s Day”, traditional set, and Hornpipe. Kathleen placed first in Hornpipe and Treble Jig, and second in Reel, Slip Jig, and Light Jig in competition at the Advanced Beginner level.
The Pictou United congregation will see both Sarah and Kathleen dance here on Sunday, Sept. 16/07 for the New Scotland Days service.
The MacCallums are both students at the Layden School of Irish Dance in Truro and were among five of its members who returned successful, adding several more awards to the School’s list of credits this year. The other three winners (See photo above) were Brett McCavour, Lucas Watson and Alison Downey.
Brett McCavour of Truro finished first in Preliminary Championships and third in Treble Reel.
Lucas Watson of Truro had numerous first place finishes at the Open level including “St. Patrick’s day“ traditional set, “Storyteller” contemporary set and Treble Jig. He also placed second in Hornpipe and Reel.
