BURRIS (Goode), Audrey Frances
BURRIS (Goode), Audrey Frances - 81, Balfron, Colchester Co., passed away Sunday, January 20, 2008, in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche.
Born in Green Oaks, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Alice (Gilby) Goode. Audrey taught school in Princeport, Birch Hill, Denmark and Balfron before retiring to raise her family.
A loving mother and loyal friend, she was very involved in Trinity United Church, The Falls and the Phyllis Decker Ladies Aid. She was also active in many community projects, collected for several charities, and loved to help at community suppers.
For many years, she and her husband, Lennie, were foster parents to several young children who benefited greatly from their care, love and guidance. Audrey took great pride in her children, and later, her grandsons, supporting their education and following their careers with keen interest. Always positive, always generous, no wonder she was loved by all.
Audrey suffered through several illnesses and the loss of four of her five children, but through it all, with the loving support of her husband, family and close friends, and with the courage and determination few could imagine, she carried on, maintaining her faith in God and love of life.
She was predeceased by her sister, Rita Curtis; children, Laurie and Laura (twins); Heather and Arlene; granddaughter, Eve.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lennie; son, Brian (Jane), Pictou; grandsons, Christopher (UNB), Cory (St. F.X.), Mark and Adrian, Tatamagouche; great-granddaughter, Alana Burris, Tatamagouche; several nieces and cousins.
Following her request, cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, January 25, in Coulter's Funeral Home (657-3288), 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche, NS B0K 1V0.
