Celebrating the 45th Anniversary

Pictou - Celebrating the 45th Anniversary of United Church Women was the theme of Sunday service. Greeters were Donna Langille and Sheldon Chisholm. Steward was Brian Burris.

Mission Moment was given by Margaret-Anne Dobson who shared the story of UCW worldwide.

Call to worship was by Gwen Macdonald, thanks being given for the women across Canada who have been working together in study, fellowship and service. Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarty’s time with the children (as she accessorized) shared of the role UCW play in the church and around the world as well as her own experience and involvement growing up. The children sang happy birthday to the UCW as they celebrated.

Scripture- Unwavering Friendship was read by Judy Cormier, New Testament Lesson -One Body was read by Kay Desborough.

Celebrating the past, present and future of the UCW was shared by Doris Young and June Cameron. Celebration Symbols of Service were brought forth as were 3 white roses placed for past UCW members who died in 2007- Dorothy Davey, Phyllis Green and Marjorie Hallman.

Service concluded with thanks being extended to Pictou UCW for their dedication and support of the church by Brad MacCullum of UC council. Celebration continued following service downstairs with refreshments and cake also sharing UCW memorabilia.
