“Headlines in the Paper”
by Angie Burrell
While Rev. Moriarity enjoyed a well deserved vacation, thanks was expressed to Mike Simmons for leading us in our worship.
Greeting the congregation were Ina and Shirley MacKenzie and our Steward was Bill MacLellan. Lay Leaders were Emily Cyr, Art MacDonald, Diane Vaughan and Carolyn Moore.
Hebrew Scripture was from Ezekiel and our Meditation “Headlines in the Paper” which were read as they might have a appeared in an Israeli newspaper dated 036 with the flashback in time “Ezekiel Stands in Valley of Dead Bones”.
A present day Israeli newspaper had been obtained from the Embassy which was used.
At the end of the Meditation the congregation was informed that we are not so different after all – page 4 of the Israeli newspaper was the sports page.
A Moment for All was shared with members of the Sunday School and congregation, in keeping with Ezekiel and the dry bones, was aptly demonstrated using a box of Kraft dinner. Another one of its many uses!
Ministry of Music offered by the choir was “Dry Bones” with the congregation joining in. After worship members of the congregation expressed that it was good to hear some of the older hymns that were sung.
