Season of Easter - 2nd Sunday
by Sharon Cheverie
Pictou- Images showing the work and ministry of Habitat for Humanity were being shown as the congregation gathered for the 2nd Sunday in the Season of Easter.
Greeting were Brad and Mary MacCallum, Steward was Bill Dodson.
Lighting of the Christ Candle and Call to Worship was given by Paige Fraser.
Special guest of Pictou United this week was Dianne Hann as she offered the Ministry of Music” Shepherd of My Heart” and “Like a Shepherd.
Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarty’s time with the children discussed how music can make us feel, like jumping for joy or make us quiet and give thanks to God. She shared with the children how the” Easter Day “ itself was over but in the church “Easter Season” lasts 50 days. And we celebrate this in song, prayer, stories and fun.
The children learned a new song before leaving for classes.
Gospel Lesson Luke 24:13-35 was read by Peter Fraser.
“Resurrection Reflections” given by Rev. Moriarty asked the questions what is Palm Sunday? What is Good Friday? What is Easter? As we celebrate the message of resurrection during this Easter “Season” and the living presence of Christ within us and among us. As people of faith we are called to reflect upon what we think. What do Easter/ Resurrection mean to each of us individually or as a church?
Coffee hour followed service in the church hall hosted by Christian Development Committee and Sunday School Parents.
Sunday service is at 10:30 am weekly.
