Pictou United welcomes Mike Simmons' ministry during sabbatical
by Sharon Cheverie
Pictou- Greeting the congregation was Bob and Faye Marshall, steward was Brian Burris.
As we gathered for Trinity Sunday, we welcomed Mike Simmons and his ministry during Rev. Moriarity’s sabbatical.
Mission Moment was given by Margaret Anne Dodson as she reported on her recent trip to China and asked that we give support to M&S at this time of crisis.
Lighting the Christ Candle and Call to Worship was done by Kenzie MacDonald.
Time with the children - Mr. Simmons explained the meaning of Trinity 1 in 3 or 3 in 1. And that we celebrate Trinity Sunday for a special reason to recognize three people as one, God the Father (Creator), God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The children shared in a prayer before going onto Sunday school.
Hebrew Scripture (Genesis 1:1-4) and Responsive Psalm (Psalm 8) were read by Beverly Simmons, Gospel Lesson (Mathew 28:16-20) was read by Mr. Simmons.
Meditation “God’s Relationship” spoke of Christians adopting the 3 in 1 theory and understanding their thoughts behind it. Creator – who created this universe in which we live, the Holy Spirit who gave us life and the one on one relationship we have with God through His son Jesus.
Ministry of Music sang by the choir was “Mallaig Sprinkling Song”.
Everyone is invited to join us for a “Peace” full Coffee House Sat., May 24th @ 7:00 pm. Open mike with special guests – share your talents -perform, sing, play, read, etc. Free will donations for the United for Peace Campaign. Phone 485-5081 for more info.
