Graduation Sunday
by Sharon Cheverie
Pictou – We gathered in celebration of “Graduation Sunday.” Greeters were Amy MacKenzie and Kayla Hill, Steward was Murray McLaren.
This week’s bulletin was dedicated in loving memory of Stan McLaren, by the family.
Margaret Anne Dodson and Ruth Mackay presented a conversational exchange about university life, being away from home and the help and information that is available.
Lighting the Christ Candle and Call to Worship was done by Emelyne Marshall.
Brad MacCallum, chair of church council, congratulated the graduating students and handed out certificates. Harris MacKenzie, on behalf of the finance & stewardship committee, presented the 2008 Jean Dickson and Dodson Family Bursaries.
Hebrew Scripture Genesis 21: 8-21 and Responsive Psalm 100 were read by Jocelyn Marshall. Mike Simmons read the Gospel Lesson, Matthew 10: 24-39.
In the Meditation, Mr. Simmons spoke to graduates, as we honor them today about accepting the journey that lies before them, as you do not know what tomorrow holds; and that when things get hectic, and they will, to ask God for wisdom to go forward. That God will reveal each step of your journey to you personally, only you can go forward.
Ministry of music “Ave Verum Corpus” and “You Raise Me Up” was offered by Carolyn Fellows.
