John Allister “Al” Tucker

Pictou - John Allister “Al” Tucker, 72, of Pictou, and formerly of Stellarton, passed away with his loving family at his side in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on Friday, June 27, 2008.

Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late James and Edith (Fraser) Tucker.

Al was retired from Nova Scotia Power, with more than 25 years service.

Active in his community he served 18 years on Stellarton Town Council, was a member of the RCAFA, Stellarton, and for many years was co-ordinator for the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinics in Stellarton. He was a former member of both the Stellarton and Scotsburn Fire Departments, and belonged to the Stellarton and Pictou Branches of the Royal Canadian Legion. Al also held memberships in Albion Masonic Lodge, No. 5, New Glasgow, and the Pictou Lions Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Linda (Davey) Tucker; daughters, Alana (Lee) Toole, Pictou; and Tracy, Linacy; sons, Michael, Annapolis Valley; and Rod, Calgary; seven grandchildren; sisters, Evenly Delaney, Stellarton; Carmaine (John) Walker, Cape Breton; brothers: Leo (Mary) Scott, Truro; Bill (Storm), Victoria, BC; Vernon, Stellarton; Gerald (Sharon) Calgary, AB; numerous nieces and nephews; special noted “brother of his heart”, Dan Benoit, AB.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son, Perry.

Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.

Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday from Pictou United Church, with Michael Simmons officiating. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the VON or the Canadian Cancer Society.
