MORSE, (MacAulay), Margaret "Peg"
PICTOU - MORSE, (MacAulay), Margaret "Peg" - 1909 - 2008, Pictou, passed away Wednesday morning, July 9, 2008, surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Mount Thom, she was a daughter of Thomas and Henrietta (Archibald) MacAulay.
Gram, as she was lovingly known to her family, was a remarkable woman. Her strength, her faith, her loyalty, her love of people and her sense of fun enriched the lives of those who knew her. She loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. She was an organizer of countless family reunions and taught us the value of family ties. She believed our actions should contribute in a positive way to this world and she led by example. She always had a smile and a kind word.
Gram was a guest of the Shiretown Nursing Home for 11 years. She loved company and cherished her weekly visits from Pauline.
Peg attended school in Mount Thom and Pictou. She graduated from Truro Normal College with her certificate in teaching.
She was an active member of Pictou United Church; she taught Sunday school, led Explorers and C.G.I.T. and was an active member of the UCW.
She was a member of the Princess Rebekah Lodge No. 4 for over 50 years and served as Noble Grand.
Peg was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clarence; sisters, Elsie (George) MacKay; Anna (Will) Jones; Nettie MacAulay; brothers, Russel, Jimmy (Elsie), Thom (Marion) (Bessy), Wilfred (Isabel), and Perley (Betsy).
She is survived by her daughters, Hetty Watters, Seattle, Wash., and Peggy MacDonald (Alan), East Bay, Cape Breton.
Peg was very proud of and much loved by her grandchildren, Allison, Susan, Michael and Ted MacDonald, and Mark, Paul, John and Jason Cross; great-grandchildren, Noah, Marlie and Maxwell Cross, Seattle, Wash.; Elizabeth, Grace and Mark Cross, Connecticut; Bryden, Marin and Liam MacDonald, Woodville; Gabriel, Ellerie and Breoghan Dunn, Calgary, Alta.; Finn and Thomas Offer, Dartmouth, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
She will be mourned and sorely missed.
The family would like to extend their thanks and blessings to the staff of Shiretown Nursing Home.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.
The Princess Rebekah Lodge No. 4 will hold a memorial service today at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday in Pictou United Church, with Mike Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Sylvester.
Donations in memory of Peg may be made to the Pictou United Church U.C.W. or a charity of your choice.
