Mary Jean Warford
PICTOU – Mary Jean Warford, (1917-2008), 189 Cedar St., Pictou, passed away peacefully in the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, on November 14, 2008.
Born in Kemptown, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Murdock and Mary (Cameron) MacLean.
Mom along with her husband, Henry, made many friends over the years, especially when they both worked at Ferguson’s Shipyard during the war years, and later as proprietors of Warford’s store (East End Grocery) during the 60’s and 70’s.
Mom always had family in mind knitting, sewing, crocheting and above all was a great cook and baker. She will be sadly missed but leaves behind many great memories.
Mom is survived by sons: Larry (Bruno), Burlington, Ont; Brian, Victoria, B.C.; Gary and David, both of Pictou; daughter, Sharon, Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren: Tracey, Veronica, Mandy, Scott, Sean, John and Katherine; sister, Margaret Landry; sister-in-law, Eva MacLean.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of over 60 years, Henry Edward Warford; brothers, John and Dick MacLean; sisters: Agnes LeBlanc, Rose Winkleman, Catherine Matheson.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at a later date in Seaview Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, 6009 Quinpool Rd, Suite 300, Halifax, N.S., B3K 5J7, or the Pictou United Church, James Street.
Arrangements are under the direction of McLaren Funeral Service, Pictou.
