“United for Peace”

Pictou - Upon arriving for Sunday service, peace images were being shown and music by John Lennon was playing. Greeters were Diane Vaughn and her grandchildren, steward was Bill Dodson.

We give thanks to the members of our “United for Peace” working group for conducting this service. Lighting of the Christ Candle, Call to Worship and Gathering Prayer were by Margaret Anne Dodson.

Peace Prayer and Words of Commitment were led by Beth MacDonald.

Time with the children was shared by Donna Weaver as she told the story of the Peace Pin and the significance of the dove on them.

Ministry of Music with the children was shared by Spyder Macdonald as they sang “Fly Little White Dove Fly”

Hebrew Scripture Micah 6:1-8 and Gospel Lesson Luke 10:25-37 were read by Sharon Rapp.

Reflections “The Jigsaw Puzzle” was read by Vee Reich as she had members of the congregation who were handed puzzle pieces come forward and create the United for Peace Sign.

Peace Sabbath Litany was led by Julie Marks.

Coffee hour followed morning service downstairs and was hosted by the Sunday School and Christian Development Committee.

Ten Thousand Villages sale is again being held at Pictou United, Fri Nov 7th at 6-8 and Sat Nov 8th 10-5.

As well, a Sentimental Journey “Songs of the War Years” and evening of Musical Theatre and Dessert is being held Nov 9th @ 7:00 pm - $15. ( pre sale only).
