“Raised Up”
by Angie Burns-Burrell
Pictou - Greeting the congregation at Pictou United were Isabella and Arnold Morrison. Steward was David Steele. Lay leaders were Kari Waller and Susan Fraser.
Today we marked “Family Violence Prevention Sunday” as a time for us to focus on family violence and prevention and awareness. We were reminded of the grim statistics concerning abuse and the millions of dollars spent on weapons of war and that we are God’s people and people of peace – God’s peace.
During the Moment for, All Rev. Moriarty spoke to the Sunday school about Valentine’s Day cards and we send them out to show people that we love them and asked if anyone had sent a Valentine card to God.
Hebrew Scripture was Isaiah 40: 21-31 and our Gospel lesson was from Mark 1 29:39.
Reflections “Raised Up” was Mariam’s story followed by a video of beautiful images accompanied by the hymn “You Raise Me Up”. We were reminded of the desire of God for all of us to be raised up and be the people God needs us to be.
Ministry of Music “On Eagles Wings” was offered by the choir.
