“IF YOU CAN’T REMEMBER WAR GIVE THANKS FOR PEACE”
by Sharon Cheverie
Pictou – We gathered at Pictou United for worship in recognition of Remembrance Day Sunday. Greeting the congregation was Beth MacDonald, steward was Bill Dodson.
Lighting the Christ Candle and Call to worship was given by Karla Marshall. God is our refuge and our strength. We gather our hearts and minds to remember those who served and continue to serve for freedom, life and peace.
Laying of the wreaths was carried out by Alison Yoshioka, Nicole MacKenzie, Brian Burris and Brad MacCallum. The Last Post and Reveille was offered by Celine Dube.
Participating in our Remembrance reflections with various readings and candle lighting were, Beth MacDonald, Vee Reich, Donna Weaver, Margaret Anne Dodson, Art MacDonad, Bonny McTague and Rev. Mary Beth Moriarity.
Ministry of Music “Hymn to Freedom” was beautifully sung by the church choir.
Remembering is not easy, we forget at our own peril.
“IF YOU CAN’T REMEMBER WAR GIVE THANKS FOR PEACE”
Praying always, Lest we Forget, Lest We Forget
Next Sunday we welcome special guest Rev Tesshin James Smith director of the Atlantic Zoto Zen Centre. Rev. James will speak on Zen Buddhist beliefs and practices. Worship is at 10:30, all are welcome.
