Reflections “The Way a Cross”

PICTOU UNITED - ‘Second Cup’ Sunday was held prior to morning worship.

Greeting the congregation were Frank and Eva McLean, steward today was Ian MacDonald.

Mission Moment was shared by Margaret Anne Dodson.

An information session on “Fund Script” was presented by Bev Simmons and Nancy Steele.

Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity led the Call to Worship.

Lighting of three Lenten Candles and Christ Candle and also reading the Lenten Candle Liturgy were Rebecca, Josh, Isaac and Luke Young.

Gospel Lesson John 3: 14-21 was read by Wanda Theriault.

Reflections “The Way a Cross” - Told the story of a great rumbling and of the earth being broken causing a “chasm” with the leader and his son on one side and the people on the other side and the need to come together. Told of the leaders love and care for his people and the world and of his vision that all people would live knowing abundant life and all would have a common connection. That if we Cross the Bridge or Bridge the Cross there is no telling what might happen.

Ministry of Music “When You Prayed Beneath the Trees” was shared by the choir.

Recognition was given to those who have been elected to take on particular responsibilities within our church community as Elders and as officers within UCW.

“Imagine……Just Imagine”

Pictou United - Greeting the congregation were Wilson Jones and Sharon Dewar, steward was Ian MacDonald.

Mission Moment “Raising Children” was shared by Margaret Anne Dobson.

Lighting the Four Lenten Candles and The Christ Candle and giving the Call to Worship was Tiena Buckley and Taylor Wilson.

Lenten Candle Liturgy and Extinguishing the Third Lenten Candle was by Nadine and Hailey Wilson.

Hebrew Scripture Exodus 20:1-17 and Gospel Lesson John 2: 13-22 were read by Donna Weaver.

Reflections shared by Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity “Imagine……Just Imagine” If our world was as God intended, all humanity would live as God intended. Imagine all the people sharing all the world. Our world is not what God would imagine….war, hunger, death, HIV. He would be speechless at this broken, wounded creation. As He looks at our world today His heart is breaking. Imagine…….Just Imagine how sad He must be.

Ministry of Music “Meditation” was offered by special guest Giselle Mitchell on violin along with Leslie Dunn (piano) and Stewart Logan (organ).

Sun Mar 22nd is “Second Cup” join us before worship at 9:45 for a cup and conversation.

Baptisms, Affirmations of Faith, & International Women's Day

PICTOU UNITED CHURCH - Greeting the congregation were Donna Langille and Sharon Dewar, steward was Ian MacDonald.

Lighting of the five Lenten Candles and Call to Worship were by Jim and Brenda Parker and family.

The Gospel Lesson Story was read by Angie Burrell.

As we gathered in Celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism, reflections shared the meaning of who we are and whose we are, we are God's and we are loved. In baptism we celebrate God’s love for us, for His gift of life and love.

Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity gathered the children and read the story Love You Forever. Then the children sat in the front pews to watch.

Presentations of those to be baptized were
Presentation of Candles and Certificates were by elder Art MacDonald.

Affirmation of Faith was also celebrated during service. Presentations of those affirming their Faith were

Presentations of Certificates were by elder Brad MacCallum.

Ministry of Music “No Man is an Island” was sung by the church choir.

As Sunday marked International Women’s Day recognition was given to Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity and all women of Pictou United by Bill Dodson.

To mark the beginning of March break any one interested in traveling to Sugar Moon Farm for breakfast will gather at 8:00 a.m. on Sat March 14th at the church.
